Walking on hot coals?
Walking on hot coals? Generally not recommended! Some of my patients who have peripheral neuropathy have told me that this is how their feet felt. Others have reported tingling, numbness or cold feeling. Peripheral neuropathy is a condition where there is something wrong with the nerves in the extremities causing them not to work correctly. There are many causes of peripheral neuropathy. Some of the most common causes I see include diabetes, chemotherapy, toxin exposure, trauma and infections. Finding the cause of the nerve damage is important in preventing further damage. Sometimes, a definitive cause can not be found. These cases are termed idiopathic neuropathy. Medical treatment of peripheral neuropathy often focuses on symptom control. Although symptom control is important in improving quality of life, it does not address the nerve damage itself. Fortunately, through modern science, there is something that can be done to reverse nerve damage in peripheral neuropathy. For the past 5 years I have been employing a form of electric therapy called Electric Signal Therapy using the Neurogenx device. This device uses bio similar electrical waves controlled by a computerized device to apply the energy at varying frequency and intensity during the 20 minute treatment session. The stimulation causes chemical effects within the nerve tissue allowing for increased metabolism and activity. This can help the nerves recover function, reducing symptoms and improving sensation. We have had great results treating hundreds of patients with this technique over the last 5 years. If you or a loved one is experiencing signs or symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, please come in for an examination and consultation to see how this technique can help! Let us cool those hot coals, without water!
