I didn't know you treated that!
Every now and then, one of our patients will tell us about a foot problem that prompted them to see another doctor.
It’s often for a condition we’ve treated hundreds of times.
When we ask why they went elsewhere, the patient usually responds “I didn’t know you treated that problem.”
We feel bad when someone sees another doctor for a foot condition and it gets misdiagnosed or ineffectively treated. This mostly happens when seeing a non-specialist, such as at an Urgent Care Facility. They are doing their best, but they don’t have the training or experience that we do when it comes to feet.
It makes sense that our patients don’t know everything we treat. How could you know we treat foot and ankle trauma when we’ve only treated you for nail fungus?
